AN ALUMNUS AMONG US

LARRYLAND FILMS

(EASTER EGG EXHIBIT)

Over the course of the 2021-2022 academic year, the Oxford Revue Facebook page began to occasionally publish material it did not technically own. Revue member Arran Birks had been filming comedy skits for his YouTube channel Larryland Films for over a decade and suggested that some of his pre-existing videos be repurposed as part of the troupe's continuous social media output. A video in which Birks turned into computer game character Sonic The Hedgehog and ran through the centre of Worthing was (somehow) adapted to advertise a Revue performance at the community art space Common Ground Oxford. Another two sketches were posted in their near-original state.

After performing in the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe show The Oxford Revue and Other Farmyard Animals, Birks assembled his solo show, Truth Hurts, for the 2023 festival - becoming one of the latest Oxford Revue alumni to pursue a career in comedy.

"I'm a liar. You're a liar. We're all liars. But why? On a mission to find out is solo comedian Arran Birks. During the show, Birks breaks down the woes of his ex-corporate job, faces the fears of his health issues, and encounters a lie detector that fights back. Formerly of the Oxford Revue, Arran Birks gets honest about being dishonest." - Truth Hurts Edinburgh Fringe blurb [source] â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
